Understanding F1 Sprint Results and Points

Short, flat-out race

An F1 Sprint is roughly 100 km and normally has no mandatory pit stop, so track position matters from the start.

Sprint points

The top eight score 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point. The points column shows each driver's haul.

Grid gains and losses

A positive number means places gained from the Sprint start; a negative number means places lost.

Sprint vs Grand Prix grid

The Sprint is a separate points race. Grand Prix qualifying sets the starting order for the main race.
