What to Know About the Belgian Grand Prix 2026
The Kemmel tow is earned on the climb through Eau Rouge and Raidillon
Drivers accelerate downhill from La Source, compress through Eau Rouge and climb Raidillon before the Kemmel Straight. Les Combes is the reward for a clean run and the most obvious passing zone, but the lap then changes character: Pouhon, Fagnes and Blanchimont demand high-speed grip on a car trimmed for the straights.
- Watch whether a following driver stays close over Raidillon; that determines the real attack into Les Combes.
- A car can lead the speed trap yet lose the lap through Spa's long, loaded corners.
A tyre call can be outdated before the car reaches the pits again
Spa covers enough forest and elevation for one sector to be wet while another remains dry. Because a lap is long, a driver who passes pit entry on the wrong tyre cannot correct the decision quickly. Cool conditions also make tyre temperature difficult after a Safety Car, turning restarts into a second strategic test.
- Use mini-sector timing and onboard visibility to locate the rain instead of relying on one circuit-wide label.
- Pit-lane timing matters most just before a shower or neutralisation, when the cost of stopping can change sharply.
Choose the entrance for your view; crossing Spa is not a quick errand
Spa is spread through the Ardennes rather than built around one compact spectator bowl. Rail-and-shuttle journeys commonly route through Verviers, while drivers need a pre-booked parking area and time for local traffic. Inside, steep paths and the circuit's length make footwear and entrance choice part of the viewing plan.
- Waterproof shoes are useful when grass and forest paths stay wet after the rain has stopped.
- Carry warm and waterproof layers even if the forecast at your hotel looks settled.
