The lap is not only a long straight: exits at Turns 12 and 14 define the main battle
Turn 12 must be prioritised because it launches cars onto the 1.9-kilometre Las Vegas Boulevard straight. A slipstream can produce a move near the Turn 13 kink, while Turn 14 is the clearest late-braking opportunity if the pass is not already complete. The lap closes with a tight chicane and flat-out Turn 17 beside the pit entry.
- Turn 14 follows the fastest part of the lap and produced multiple lead changes in the inaugural Strip race.

Tyre preparation starts before the timed lap and matters again after every restart
Low evening temperatures and long straights make it difficult to build and retain tyre energy. Drivers may need more preparation than expected before a qualifying lap, while braking into Turns 5, 12 and 14 exposes a tyre that is not ready. Low drag helps attack on the Strip but can make the car less settled in slow braking and traction zones.
